Washoe County Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan Critique
For this project, I analyzed risks and hazards in Washoe County, Nevada, while determining of the Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan adequately incorporates dimensions of environmental justice and equity.
Objectives
The objective was to complete an analysis of the hazards and risks in Washoe County and determine whether the Washoe County Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan reflects accurate planning processes, including incorporating dimensions of environmental justice. I also analyzed the legal basis that the plan was written on and included recommendations for improvement.
Results
The results from this critique showed that the Plan lacks mitigation efforts that are exclusive to disadvantaged communities. The County's primary hazard is the threat of wildfire, however, there is a focus on flood mitigation, which is not the largest risk to the community at present.

Sustainability and Climate Action Plan Analysis
Sustainability and Climate Action Plan Analysis
For this project, I analyzed the City of Reno's Sustainability and Climate Action Plan. I focused on elements related to adaptation plans, mitigation strategies and socio-ecological adaptation.
Objectives
The objective was to assess a current local level adaptation policy in my area, while focusing on the inclusion of socio-ecological systems and adaptations. This was done by evaluating policies and implementation plans.
Results
The results from this analysis showed that the Reno Sustainability and Climate Act Plan is thought out, detailed, and has ambitious goals. However, there are too many goals to ensure that the communality is sustainable.
